The state funded Home Care program provide case/management
services and subcontracts such as cleaning, meals, shopping,
laundry, bathing, dressing, etc. Special Home Care Programs
include:
- MANAGED
CARE IN HOUSING (MCIH)
- provides
a higher service level for very frail elders who reside in
senior housing and are not Medicaid recipients. They must
meet all criteria for state-funded home care.
- ENHANCED
COMMUNITY OPTIONS PROGRAM (ECOP) - which provides
a higher service level for very frail elders who do not
reside in senior housing and do not receive Medicaid. They
must meet all criteria for state-funded home care.
- GROUP
ADULT FOSTER CARE (GAFC) - which provides a higher
level of services to very frail adults who are Medicaid
recipients and require an intensive level of personal care
services. Why is it important to know about these services?
As people live to their 80s and 90s, there is greater likelihood
that they may need services. Therefore, elders and families
should know about home care. What should the consumer consider
in selecting a provider? Elders should always find out first
if they are eligible for state-funded home care programs.
